Cookie Policy
How this website uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in much the same way. They can remember your preferences, keep a site working properly, or track how you browse.
Under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we only place non-essential cookies on your device if you have given us permission.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to function and do not need your consent. We use as few as possible:
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| woo_cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. | 12 months |
| PHPSESSID | Keeps an administrator signed in to the website editor. Only set for staff signing in to the admin area, never for ordinary visitors. | When the browser closes |
Analytics
We do not currently use any analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
Third-party content
Some pages include content served by other organisations. When you allow this content to load, those organisations may set their own cookies and will receive your IP address. We do not control those cookies.
- Airtable - powers the supporter lists on our Our Community page. This content is blocked until you accept it, and you can load it just for that visit without changing your overall choice.
- Amazon - if you follow a link to buy the book, Amazon's own cookies and privacy policy apply from the moment you arrive on their site.
- FundRazr - our fundraising pages are hosted by FundRazr and are governed by their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare - delivers the animation library used for the site's motion. It does not set cookies, but your IP address is shared with it in order to deliver the file. Our typefaces are served from our own server, so nothing is requested from Google to render text.
Your choices
When you first visit, you can accept or reject non-essential content. Rejecting is just as easy as accepting, and if you reject, nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies above is loaded.
You can also browse the whole site without accepting anything. The only difference is that embedded supporter lists will show a placeholder instead of loading.
Changing your mind
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the link, which also sits in the footer of every page.
You can additionally block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect how other websites work.
